Born in Malatya in 1918, Malatyali Fahri began his musical life with the baglama, he continued on tangur. From 1936 on, he began his life as a professional musician, and in 1937, made seven records in Germany. He composed a great many songs in a folk music form, which he recorded on hundreds of records. He is also known one of the foremost names in early arabesk music. He passed away in 1969.
