Born in Kirsehir in 1913, Muharrem Ertas was one of the foremost vocalists to emerge among the central Anatolian Abdals in recent times. One of the true original personalities in the bozlak tradition, Muharrem Ertas was also a teacher, emulated by many young musicians coming up in the region. He passed away in 1984.
