Born in 1912, in the town of Maçka in the Trabzon region, Hasan Tunç began playing the kemençe and singing at the age of 12-13. He made many recordings, both of his own songs and traditional songs and tunes of the region, and is known as one of the most important names in Black Sea music. He died in 1986.
