DELLAL-ZADE İSMAİL EFENDİ

Dellal-zade Ismail Efendi was born in 1797 in Istanbul. He composed several works in various makams, rhythms and forms, of which his two murabbas and his agir and yürük semais are the most exquisite. Aside from these, he also composed some of the most beautiful works of our classical repertoire, including his sûznâk beste and sarki in sehnaz. His total known works consist of two ilâhis, two kârs, thirteen bestes, seven agir semâis, ten yürük semâis, one pesrev, one sengin semâi and forty sarkis. He died in 1869.
